Thomas Blachman

Biography

Thomas Blachman is one of Denmark’s most important jazz composers, producers and musicians with a challenging and influential catalogue to his credit. He also happens to be one of the country’s most popular and controversial television personas. Blachman is famous across all of Denmark for being the outspoken judge on the “X-Factor” talent competition, a position he has held since 2008.

Despite the celebrity, controversy and media hoopla, Blachman continues to be an inquisitive and searching composer. He has written film and ballet music and jazz standards as well as more expansive compositions. He is an innovator, a man that seeks to re-examine and redefine our musical experiences. He has 5 Danish Grammy awards to his credit including 2 as composer and producer for the groundbreaking Caroline Henderson album Cinemataztic. He also composed the score to the Thomas Vinterberg film Submarino (2010) for which he won a Robert Prize in 2011.
Thomas has a B.A in jazz composition and arrangement from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
